Never let it be said that I collect mainstream. My thrift store buddies joke about it ... they tell me that it doesn't matter how early or late I get to a sale, nobody else is looking to purchase the things I want anyway! Case in point with my newest treasure: A Silver State Kennel Club horn tankard, which I believe may have been a trophy. At first look, it appears to be pewter, but as I researched the marks on the back, it turns out to be Wilton Armetale, a metal developed in 1963 from an aluminum based alloy. The company continued to produce decorations and novelty items in Armetale until it's closure in 1989.
